Vampiro do Brasil Part 1

Hi all!

I haven't really kept up with my blogging on here but I wanted to share with you my newest project. When I lived in Brasil for 6 months during high school, it made lasting impressions on me including my 'family'. Well, now, 24 years later, I have found my 'sister' on facebook. Her cousin found out about me and contacted me. We have developed a great relationship though she speaks little English. Luckily, I still remember a lot of Portuguese and we've been PM'ing a lot.

I had not been writing as I seemed to have writer's block and was uninspired. Then one day, my 'cousin', Christiane posted a pic of her. When I showed my hubby, he and I immediately said, "Vampire"! The more and more I looked at it, the more inspired I became. I wanted to use it as the cover for my next book and after getting an excited 'yes' from her, I started writing the story. Most of it is in English but has some in Portuguese. She agreed to correct my Portuguese and was thrilled to be part of the project. She said, "I've always wanted to be a vampire and now here you are putting a cape on me, I'm so happy". She had originally contacted me because I am a vampire Author and she wanted to read my books my 'sister' had spoken about. Unfortunately, since she doesn't speak much English, it was hard for her. I looked into getting a book transcribed into Portuguese and it's about $9,000 so that won't be happening any time soon.

Thus started my current work where I can proudly use both languages. With her permission, I have even named my main character after her. I sent her the first almost 4 chapters and she was excited by it. Here's the pic that inspired me:

Christiane is such a great woman. With 2 grown children and a 3 year old, she owns her own photography company which she runs out of her house. She's just an amazing and cool lady.

I'm hoping to have the book out by the beginning of the year, just depends on how fast I can get the story put together. I have so many ideas so hopefully it will come out as great as I'm expecting! There's so many things I want to incorporate, mythology, witches, vampires (of course) and the country of Brasil! So much research, so little time but I'm loving every minute of it!

Once I have it almost ready, I will be holding a facebook event to promote it with Author takeovers, trivia, giveaways and plenty of prizes so keep your eyes peeled around the end of the year. Well, I'm off to keep working on the story, Vampiro do Brasil! Let me know what you think!

Keep Writing!
